Maxine (born December 15, 2015) is an Instagram-famous Pembroke Welsh Corgi living in New York City with her owners Alex Garyn and Bryan Reisberg. Known for having "the fluffiest butt on Instagram,"[1] Maxine is a verified social media influencer on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. Maxine is known as a "fluffy" corgi due to her abnormally long coat of fur which is the result of being born with a rare "mutant gene."[2]

Social Media[edit]

In 2015, Maxine's owners started her Instagram, @MadMax_Fluffyroad, a play on the title of the 2015 film Mad Max Fury Road. Maxine's social media utilizes movie quotes as captions that accompany pictures and videos of Maxine out and about in New York City and traveling with her owners. Maxine's owners also post daily Instagram stories of Maxine riding the New York City subway in a dog-specific backpack,[3] much to the delight of the other commuters.[4][5]

Maxine first gained notoriety on social media with "Maxine the Fluffy Corgi," a short film created by her owners in 2016. The short film was posted to Vimeo where it garnered over 400,000 views, received a Vimeo Staff Pick, and was invited to play at the 2018 TED Conference.[6]

In 2019, to promote the 91st Academy Awards, Maxine's owner photoshopped her into a series of movie posters, which quickly went viral across the globe, receiving praise from The Huffington Post,[7] Buzzfeed[8], The Daily Mail[9], and The Morning Show in Australia.[10]
