Maya Jenkins
Maya Jenkins (born March 15, 1994, in Los Angeles, California), also known as Maya J in the music world, is an American actress, singer, and songwriter.
Career
Music
On December 2, 2016, after years of writing lyrics and musical compositions, she released her first single, Symptoms of You.[1] The song was written and produced by Jenkins, and co-produced by musicians DaveSor and Anna “Analog” Feller. The piano track, as well as the vocals, were recorded at Interscope Records recording studios in Santa Monica, CA. Jenkins has stated that she wrote the song in 2015, and that it took over a year to complete.
Acting
In 2014, Maya was cast in HBO’s short film, Muted, and acted alongside actors Chandra Wilson and Malcom-Jamal Warner.[2] She has appeared on comedy segments with AwesomenessTV, and on truTv's sketch comedy show, You Can Do Better as a guest.[3] She has acted in many short films and continues to work in films, TV movies, and improv shows.[2]
Personal life
She has played the violin for over a decade and attended an arts high school before leaving to be homeschooled. Although she was born in Los Angeles, she grew up for 11 years in West Palm Beach, Florida. She currently resides in California with her mother and sister.
