MediaLab is an American holding company of consumer internet brands focused on social media, music, & entertainment.[1][2] The company which was founded in 2018, is headquartered in Santa Monica, California and incorporated in Delaware as MediaLab.AI, Inc.[3] The company also operates a proprietary software platform which provides a variety of shared services to each of the MediaLab brands. These shared services primarily include technology related to programmatic advertising, content moderation, DevOps, analytics, and data privacy.[4]

MediaLab operates its own programmatic advertising exchange, Assembly.[5]

Moderation[edit]

MediaLab's content moderation is based on deep learning AI originally developed at Whisper called the Arbiter.[6] The Arbiter scans all image, video and text based submissions at the point of upload for anything that violates its terms of services.

Creator Economy[edit]

MediaLab has a number of products and services focused on the creator economy and internet influencers. These products are designed to help influencers monetize their content which is primarily music focused as is the case with the WorldStar Distro product which allows independent music artists to distribute their music directly to platforms like Spotify & Apple Music in exchange for a small amount of the streaming revenue.[7]
