Gameplay[edit]

Medivia Online is a two-dimensional tile-based game, set in the fantasy world. The game uses old-school pixel art graphics.

The core of the gameplay involves interacting with the community and upgrading your character, by leveling up and looting better gear (through killing the monsters, making quests and progressing through factions). Training melee (knights), distance (rangers) or magical (druids and sorcerers) skills is also very important and has big impact on strength of player's character. The game enables the player to roam infinitely long across the plains together with their friends. Exploring, interacting in guilds, participating in conflicts, team hunts, tasking, questing and designing your own house are just a few features of Medivia Online which are different to other games as the individual skill of the player, the personal game-play, impacts these features such as the profitability of a hunt, the outcome of a quest and the hierarchic standing of the player within the community.[2]

The game received a major update in July, 2020, which replaced most of the content available to players with free account status, introduced new graphics engine and sprites of higher quality.[3][4]

Vocations[edit]

The player is allowed to choose one of four vocations during the journey on Medivia Online, unique classes which require different playing skills:

Knight[edit]

Knights are the masters of melee weapons, shielding and hand to hand combat. They have greater brute strength than any other vocation and are able to endure the a heavier weight due to this. As a result of Karriors focusing in their physical skills, they lack in magic abilities.[5]

Ranger[edit]

Rangers are masters of distance weapons, e.g. Bows & Crossbows. Rangers are balanced between physical and magical abilities. They advance very fast in Distance and are not totally inept concerning magical skills.[6]

Druid[edit]

Druids are masters of healing and nature. Throughout history, they have practiced their control over nature to the benefit of all humans. They are very skilled in healing and supportive spells. Because of their focus on the magical side, they lack lots of physical strength such as carrying items and equipment.[7]

Sorcerer[edit]

Sorcerers are masters of offensive and aggressive magic. They have few healing abilities although have a wide variety of attacking spells. Through the ages, they have focused their research on destructive magic to aid them in their many battles. Similarly to Druids, they also lack lots of physical strength.[8]

Premium account[edit]

Although Medivia Online is free to play, it is possible to purchase a premium account status for about 7 EUR per month. Premium status features include:

• vocation promotions, which increases health and mana regeneration,

• ability to cast new spells,

• access to NPC, which sells 5th blessing (blessings decrease death penalty by 1% each),

• fast travelling through boats, gryphons and steamboats,

• ability to purchase a house,

• access to premium exclusive locations,

• access to premium exclusive quests and factions,

• doubled depot storage.

House system[edit]

The house system is a feature created for players to freely customize their houses as they wish. The houses can be seen by other players on their screens.

Decorative items are available to be purchased from the store or obtained from the many tasks, creatures, quests and events that Medivia has to offer. Parts of the house, such as flooring, can also be modified by the players.[9]

Other features[edit]

Fishing[edit]

The fishing system is a new feature that was introduced as a way of adding more depth to the gameplay. Different species of fish can now be found in waters all over the land. Fish pools are a common sight, allowing for a quick and easy catch. Fishing is still possible in regular water blocks, although it is much more inefficient and time-consuming when looking for rare fish! The different types of fish are separated into tiers based on where and when you try to catch them, the quality of the rod you use and your fishing skill level. Fishing play very important role in cooking system.[9]

Farming and Cooking[edit]

The farming and cooking systems present the player with the opportunity to temporarily enhance their skills and abilities with meals, created by mixing together and cooking various ingredients in cooking pots. Players can grow vegetables and fruits in their house, using planting pots or at public farms near cities. Players can mix these with different fish and foods dropped by creatures in order to create the various meals.[9]

Mining[edit]

The mining system introduces 11 different types of ores that can be found anywhere on Medivia, from the highest mountain top to the deepest cave. The rarest of ores can only be found in remote places that are often home to very dangerous creatures. Acquiring expensive metals may be risky, but it can also be very rewarding. Players can smelt ores into bars and use them to create some of the best equipment in the game.[9]
