Mehra is an Indian last name belonging to the Kshatriya (in Hindi) or Khatri (in Punjabi) caste. The name specifically belongs to the Char-ghar or Dhai ghar Khatris which includes the names Kapoor, Khanna, Malhotra / Mehra and Seth. In old times the Char-ghar were known to marry their daughters among these clans but in the modern era this has lessened.[1][dubious ]
