Mei Yamazaki (山﨑愛生) (born June 28, 2005) is a Japanese pop singer under Hello! Project as a 15th generation member of Morning Musume[1]. She is former member of Hello Pro Kenshuusei Hokkaido.

Mei Yamazaki was born on June 28, 2005 in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.[2]

Career[edit]

In 2014, Yamazaki auditioned to become a model for Ciao Girl magazine.

In 2015, Yamazaki auditioned successfully as a Japanese pop band member of the Hello! Project "Hokkaido Gentei".

On July 16, 2016 it was announced that the successful applicants of the Hello! Project "Hokkaido Gentei" Member Audition would join the newly established trainee branch, Hello Pro Kenshuusei Hokkaido. Yamazaki was officially introduced as one of the first seven members on July 30 at the Hello! Project 2016 SUMMER ~Sunshine Parade~ concert in Sapporo alongside Haruka Oota, Hikari Sato, Kanami Ishiguri, Minori Kawano, Yume Kudo and Ryo Kitagawa.

On May 6, 2018 Yamazaki won the judge's singing award at the Hello! Project Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2018 ~Haru no Koukai Jitsuryoku Shindan Test~ event for her performance of "Wonderful World (English Ver.)".

On May 4, 2019 Yamazaki won the judge's character award at the Hello! Project Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2019 ~Haru no Koukai Jitsuryoku Shindan Test~ event for her performance of "Mugen Climax".

On May 12, 2019, Yamazaki performed as a member of Hello! Project Trainees Hokkaido in the opening act of Morning Musume ’19 Concert Tour Spring in Sapporo, Japan.[3]

On June 22, 2019, Yamazaki was announced and became as a 15th generation member of Morning Musume '19 alongside Morning Musume '19 LOVE Audition winners Homare Okamura and Rio Kitagawa.[2][better source needed]

She had her last performance as a Hello Pro Kenshuusei Hokkaido member in the Hello! Project Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2019 6gatsu ~Midori~, which ended on June 16. She and the rest of the 15th generation members were introduced on stage during the Hello! Project 2019 SUMMER concert tour from July 13 and will begin performing with the group in the Morning Musume '19 Concert Tour Aki. On August 28, Rio Kitagawa, Homare Okamura, and Yamazaki held their debut fanclub event, Morning Musume '19 15ki Member FC Event, at Yamano Hall. On September 5, the 15th generation members began a fanclub-exclusive web talk show, titled Three stations.

On June 12, 2020, Yamazaki will release her first visual photobook, Mei.
