Mel Rey Uy (born January 6, 1968) is the 5th Bishop of the Diocese of Lucena[1] since his consecration by Emilio Z. Marquez. He succeeded Bishop Emilio Z. Marquez, the 4th Bishop of the Diocese of Lucena. Background

Bishop Mel Rey M. Uy was born in San Agustin, Romblon, on January 6, 1968. He studied philosophy at the San Pius X Seminary of Roxas, Capiz, and theology at the St. Thomas University in Manila, where he obtained a Master’s degree in philosophy.

He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Romblon on 24 May 1994.

Currently, Mel Rey Uy serves as the 5th Bishop of Lucena.

Being a bishop

On November 10, 2017, Pope Francis appointed Mel Rey Uy as the next bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lucena, and his consecration by his predecessor Emilio Z. Marquez, D.D., was followed by his excellence on May 30, 2018.
