Melexis N.V. is a Belgium-based microelectronics company designing mixed-signal semiconductor sensors and actuators. Melexis is one of the major companies in automotive semiconductor sensing, claiming that every new produced car contains on average 18 Melexis chips.[1] Melexis is closely related to the semiconductor foundry X-Fab, both being majoritarian owned by the same holding company Xtrion NV. [2]
Melexis is mostly a fabless manufacturer, designing the chips and firmware in-house but leaving the production to specialized foundries, like X-Fab. The major fabrication steps within Melexis consist of probing on wafer-level as well as final test after packaging.[1]
Major products include magnetic sensors, MEMS sensors for pressure and infrared, motor controllers, LED drivers and Time of flight sensors.[3]
History[edit]
In July 2021, Marc Biron took over the office as CEO from Françoise Chombar, who has held this position since 2003.[4]
