Hlumelo Katikati (born 22 June 1999), better known by his stage name Mellodee is a South African singer, songwriter and record producer. Born in Whittlesea, Eastern Cape and spent most of his upbringing in Cape Town, Western Cape.
Early life
Hlumelo Katikati was born on 22 June 1999, in Whittlesea, Eastern Cape, and was raised by his uncle and wife, due to his late mother who passed away at an earlier age. He hadn't genuinely felt a mother's love at a young age. Growing up in Cape Town, South Africa, at a younger age he discovered a mobile music software called "acoustic". He would make beats and sell them to save up money to buy equipment to make songs. He would record his songs in a small closet in his house – solely engineering, mixing and mastering all his work on Audacity, later upgrading to FL Studio.
Mellodee grew up being heavily inspired by the American rap & r&b scene in the late 2000s. Heavily inspired by Lloyd and the rapper Drake.
