MeteoHeroes is an Italian edutainment animated television series produced and distributed by Mondo TV, Meteo Expert-Icona Meteo with the scope to educate children about ecology, global warming, pollution and deforestation.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] The pilot of the series aired on Cartoonito on April 22, 2020, in the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, while the first season of the series started to run on July 6 of the same year.[9] The six protagonists' characterizations were made by Luigi Ballerini, a psychoanalyst, journalist and novelist for children.
Premise[edit]
MeteoHeroes follows the adventures of six children that on their tenth birthday discover to possess superpowers that allow them to control various meteorological and atmospherical phenomena. They go around the world fighting against the Maculans and their boss, Dr. Makina, plans which represents pollution. The headquarters of the heroes is the CEM, from which the children can teleport around all the world thanks to the Jet Stream, an international central located on Gran Sasso, directed by scientists and meteorologists of which the director is Margherita Rita, whose name honors Margherita Hack and Rita Levi Montalcini, and in which the children are also trained by Tempus, an AI. The six children, of which is known only their superhero aliases, are from various parts of the world and all have different superpowers. Nubess is a girl from Buenos Aires, Argentina, with the power to create and control clouds; Thermo is a boy from Rome, Italy, with the power to control temperature; Pluvia, the shortest of the group, is a girl from Seattle, United States, with the power to control rain and create rainstorms; Fulmen is a boy from Sydney, Australia, with the power to create lightning and thunderbolt; Nix, the tallest of the group, is a girl from Harbin, China, with the power to control and create snowfall and snowstorms; Ventum is a boy from Cape Town, South Africa, with the power to control the wind.
