Micah Joseph Kim (September 21, 2020 – December 31, 2025) was an American 5-year-old boy from Austin, Texas, who was the son of Paul Kim, a Catholic youth minister and a speaker and an influencer known for his video about faith.[1][2][3][4]

Hospitalization and death

On December 21, 2025, Micah's health became to decline. Since his health was declining, he was rushed to the hospital as Micah had an "insane case of the flu," according to his father Paul.[2] In response to the hospitalization, Paul revealed that his son was hospitalized due to an "unspecified medical emergency, and he explained in the December 30th update that the flu caused him to go septic. Explained by the doctor that the flu was the "horrific case," Paul suggested that the flu virus along with septic shock was rare. Although Micah was on life support, his condition became worsened and sustained a catastrophic brain injury.[3] After sustaining catastrophic brain injury and intense flu, Micah died on New Year's Eve.[5][6][7]

Legacy

Following the death of Micah last, Paul said in his January 1 post that he "couldn't be a prouder father" and that in the midst of sorrow, Paul stated that he was given joy and hope. He also stated in a GoFundMe campaign as it had begun to support the family. Therefore, Paul was thankful for the love, prayers, and compassion: “May God truly bless you. Your prayers for Micah were answered, but in a different way than what we had all hoped for. God healed and welcomed him into eternal life. He is where we all want to be.”[8]
