Michael Aarons is an American guitarist, arranger, and music contractor, known for his work on Broadway productions. He has also worked in TV, film, and recording.[1]

Early life and education

Aarons was born and raised in Washington, D.C., where he studied music at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts.[citation needed] In 1994, he moved to New York City to study at Manhattan School of Music, where he received a bachelor's degree in Jazz/Commercial Music.[citation needed]

Career

Aarons has played the guitar in shows, recordings, TV, and film productions, including recording with Barry Manilow, Liza Minnelli, Ariana Grande, Lizz Wright, Plácido Domingo, James Ingram, Joshua Bell, Michael McDonald, Elton John, and Patti LaBelle.[citation needed] He was a guitarist in productions of Kinky Boots, Memphis, Green Day's American Idiot, Evita, Frozen, Godspell, and Grease.[citation needed] He was an arranger on the musical Next to Normal.[citation needed]

Aarons is the founder of M-Squared Music, a company that provides music coordination and orchestra contracting services for shows, recording, theatrical events, live concerts, TV, and film in North America; it also provides payroll services for its musicians.[citation needed] Its Broadway music coordination credits include Hamilton, Moulin Rouge!, & Juliet, Dear Evan Hansen, Jagged Little Pill,Frozen, Kinky Boots, Flying Over Sunset and Diana.[citation needed]

Aarons has licensed and scored music for Sesame Street as well as for commercial brands such as Gap Inc., ESPN, Nike, CNBC, Lifetime, Oxygen, OWN, ABC, and MTV.[citation needed] He wrote the theme song to the TV series How Do I Look? on the Style Network.[citation needed]
