Michael Frese
Michael Frese (born August 9, 1949) is a German psychologist. His research spans a wide range of topics within organizational behavior and work psychology. Frese holds appointments at Asia School of Business, Malaysia and Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Germany.
Education and career
Frese was born on August 9, 1949 in Munich, Germany. He completed his Master of Science at Free University of Berlin. After studying psychology, Frese worked at the chair for educational and social sciences at the Technical University of Berlin. He received his doctorate in 1978 with a focus on mental disorders in workers. From 1980 onward, he was a visiting professor at the University of Bremen and the University of Pennsylvania. In 1984, Frese received a professorship for work psychology at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. From 1991 to 2009 he held the chair for work and organizational psychology at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen; from 1995 to 2000 an additional chair at the University of Amsterdam for which he was temporarily on leave in Giessen. Frese has been a Professor of Psychology at Leuphana University Lüneburg and Professor at the National University of Singapore since 2009.[1]
He has worked as a visiting professor in Kampala, London, Maryland, Michigan, and Zhejiang, among others. In 2013, Frese was elected a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.[2] As ranked by the German business newspaper Handelsblatt in 2012 and 2014, Frese is the third most published management scholar in Germany (BWL-rankings).
