Michael Funkhouser
Michael Funkhouser (born February 26, 1996) is a cheerleader at the University of Michigan. He was formerly a student at Jackson High School in Jackson, Michigan. Funkhouser was the 2014 Jackson Citizen Patriot Youth Citizen of the Year.[1] On July 1, 2014, Funkhouser was awarded Governor Rick Snyder's Youth Volunteer of the Year.[2]
On March 12, 2015, Funkhouser started a fundraiser on GoFundMe and raised $7,422 to help a homeless couple begin a new life. On March 18, 2015, it was discovered the homeless couple had lied about their situation and were actually homeless due to drug abuse. Funkhouser ultimately donated the money to a charity.[3]
Early life
Funkhouser was born to parents Brad and Regina Funkhouser on February 26, 1996. Funkhouser attended Paragon Charter Academy School and transferred to Jackson Public Schools when he was in fifth grade to pursue his dream of playing Division One football. Funkhouser decided to end his football career after his junior year due to injuries and an interest in helping his community. Funkhouser graduated from Jackson High School in 2014.[1]
