Michael McGinlay (born 10 December 1987 in Bolton) is a professional football player (soccer player in North America) .[1] He is the son of Bolton Wanderers legend John McGinlay.

Career[edit]

McGinlay began his career at Manchester City, but never made the breakthrough, so he moved to the USA where he signed for the Cincinnati Kings. He scored 9 times in 33 appearances for the club in his first season.

A winger or striker, he signed for Bohemians in July 2007, and scored his first goal for the club on 19 October, in a 2-1 win over Derry City. In 2008, he had a loan spell at Ballymena United.

In January 2009, he signed for Dundalk and made his début as a substitute in the 1-0 loss at Galway United on 13 March 2009. At the end of the 2009 season, he was released by the Oriel Park outfit. [1]

He played for Formartine United during the 2011-12 season.

In January 2014 Mike signed for 1874 Northwich of the North West Counties Football League First Division.
