Michael Rothrock is an American technology executive and entrepreneur.[1] [2] He is currently the CTO of the collaboration software platform upBoard, Inc. His specialties include enterprise software, SaaS, and cloud computing.

Rothrock formerly served as Chief Platform Officer at computer game company MaxPlay. Prior to MaxPlay, Michael co-founded ionGrid where he served as VP of Product and Services, building the company and leading it to an acquisition by NetApp.[3] Earlier in his career, Michael held a series of positions with increasing responsibility at Interwise (acquired by AT&T), Orative (acquired by Cisco), and Portal Software (IPO).

Early life and career

Education

Rothrock went to Cranbrook High School before getting his BS and MS in Computer Science from University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. He graduated from University of Central Florida in 1997.

Early career

After graduating with an MS in Computer Science from University of Central Florida, Rothrock embarked on a career in computer science and programming, working as a solutions architect for companies including Portal Software and Orative (acquired by Cisco). He then worked as sales engineering manager for Interwise before becoming lead sales technical architect for Unified Communications (acquired by AT&T).

Later career

In 2011, Rothrock helped to co-found ionGrid, Inc. with CEO Nick Triantos and CTO Ben de Waal. Rothrock served as VP of Product and Services.[4] [5] [6] Prior to launching ionGrid, Nick Triantos was CEO of TokBox, a Sequoia Capital and Bain funded startup that built in-browser video chat. De Waal was formerly CTO of BruteForce, an enterprise software distribution platform. In 2014, Rothrock joined the executive team of the video game company MaxPlay as Chief Platform Officer.
