Michael Schleifer (Jan 14, 1967 - Nov 11, 2009) was a Canadian International Master of Chess. The son of Jamaican immigrants, Schleifer became interested in chess at a young age and become one of the top junior players in Canada, earning the National Master title at the age of 16.[1]. He later achieved the title of Fide Master in 1997 and International Master in 1999[1]
