Michel Accad (born December 18, 1953) is a banker and financier in the Middle East.[1][2][3] He has over four decades’ experience as a banker and was the former country and regional CEO of Citibank, Deputy CEO of Arab Bank, CEO of Gulf Bank Kuwait and of Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait.[4][5][6][7][8]

Accad is presently the CEO of Bankmed.[9][10][11]

Early life and education[edit]

Accad was born in Beirut of a Lebanese mother and a Lebanese-Brazilian father who worked in the oil industry.[12] That work took the family abroad, and Accad spent much of his early life in Switzerland and Italy before returning to Beirut. Accad attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he pursued a master’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Business and Finance.[13][14][15][16]

Career[edit]

Accad started his career in 1979 when he joined Citibank.[17] He worked for over 27 years with this bank assuming several roles. In 2002, he was promoted to the post of CEO of the Middle East and North Africa region, and in 2006, Accad left Citibank to join Arab Bank. Accad was the Deputy CEO of Arab Bank for two years.[18] In 2009, Accad joined Gulf Bank. He worked for over five years as the CEO and left in 2014.[19] Accad then joined Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait as the CEO, where he worked for over five years before his exit in 2020.[20][21][22][23]He is presently the CEO of Bankmed.[24][25][26]
