Plot[edit]

Shreemoyee is the only daughter of Chanchal Moitra and Sutapa Moitra. They belong to a middle-class family. Talk of engagement for wedding of Shreemoyee is going on with Topodhir, the only son of Paritosh Chatterjee.[2] Regarding wedding almost everything has been settled except the date of the wedding. But in the meantime, all on a sudden one day Shreemoyee was found walking along in a 'Michhil'. Seeing this, the parents of Topodhir misunderstand that Shreemoyee has connection with 'politics'.Chanchal Moitra and Sutapa Moitra, the helpless parents of an unmarried daughter, try their best to make them realize that their only daughter Shreemoyee has no connection with 'politics' and she did not walk along in a 'Michhil', on that day rather she tried to cross the road during that time when the 'Michhil' was going on and she was found in the 'Michhil' 'accidentally' and by 'the irony of fate'. But the parents of Topodhir do not believe it and they tell categorically and distinctly Shreemoyee's parents that their son is not mentally prepared to marry a lady who shouts even in a 'Michhil'.

Shreemoyee thanks her fate by thinking that it is well enough as everything has been cleared at the very beginning. She realizes and heartily believes that it may be possible to stay with a bad man but it is never possible to stay with a man who misunderstands her necessarily for a wrong and petty matter.
