Micks (Michaela Cook) born 26 June 1995[1] is an Australian country singer-songwriter, performing artist, actress and social media personality. Born in South Africa and raised in Brisbane (QLD), Micks has garnered over 160,000 social media followers, which she uses to promote messages from worthy causes and share her life.

Micks is also a media Ambassador for the RSPCA, which sees her appearing and performing at RSPCA events.

Early Life

Michaela Cook began her media career as a childhood commercial model. Starring in commercials for Mattel toys and leading runway fashion shows, Michaela has never been shy of the camera. She grew up in Brisbane, Australia after her family relocated from South Africa. Michaela cites her first "live performance" from singing nursery rhymes on junior school assemblies – since – singing and song-writing has been her passion.

While studying a Bachelor of Communications from the University of Queensland, in 2014 Michaela began recording and releasing her original material under the stage name, Micks.

Career

Micks has released eight singles and music videos, including a #1 iTunes Music Video, #9 charting iTunes EP Album, and #18 Single.

When releasing her first single, Time To Grow, Micks was selected to feature as part of a Compilation Album on Amazon Music. Since, her loyal following began to grow internationally, which was the basis for her 160,000 social media following.

After Amazon's success, Micks wrote and featured on a European Dance Track, which charted in the Top 100 on Beatport.

In 2017, Micks notably released a song with Tourism and Events Queensland as a campaign to use Micks' largely international based following to re-open the Cyclone effected Whitsundays Region. The video achieved enormous success, further allowing Micks to appear, host and perform on popular national broadcast network TV shows such as, The Great Day Out, Toasted TV and CMC Country Music Channel.

Since 2018, Micks has focused on growing her social media presence, which she actively uses as a vehicle to help promote worthy causes, while continuously writing new original material.

2019 sees her recording her debut album.
