Miguel Izaguirre (born October 20, 1988) is a Honduran-born American actor, writer and director. Izaguirre is best known for his portrayal of the character Diablo in the award-winning[1] Netflix Series Orange Is The New Black (2016-2019), and Paco in Shameless (2014-2016). Some of his other TV appearances include I'm Dying Up Here (2018), Goliath (2018), Ray Donovan (2015), and True Detective (2015).
Early life[edit]
Miguel Izaguirre was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, C.A. His family immigrated to Miami, FL, when he was four years old.[2] He joined the magnet program while he attended North Dade Center for Modern Languages Elementary School, Charles R. Drew Middle School, South Miami Senior High School, Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School and Miami Dade College.
Career[edit]
Izaguirre began acting when he was cast in a play in Elementary School.[3] He moved to Hollywood, CA at the age of 20. He quickly became a member of SAG-AFTRA and began acting professionally. He appeared in several commercials for corporations including Miller Lite and Toyota.
Izaguirre got his start by snagging a recurring role on Showtime’s Emmy award-winning[4] dramedy Shameless, which stars William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum. He continued his drama work with appearances in HBO’s True Detective, next to Vince Vaughn and Showtime’s Ray Donovan next to Hank Azaria. He flexed his comedy muscle with spots on NBC’s Trial & Error, Community, Netflix’s Love, and Disjointed.
Izaguirre’s most recent work includes Netflix’s groundbreaking original series Orange Is The New Black starring Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, and Uzo Aduba, where he portrays the character Diablo, the boyfriend of inmate Blanca Flores, portrayed by Laura Gómez [5] and on Amazon’s hit series Goliath where Miguel plays Flaco, the right-hand man of a drug kingpin, opposite Billy Bob Thorton.
