Mike Cable[edit]
Mike Cable, (Miy-K Kay-bel; born June 17th 1965) is an American photographer who lives on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.[1]. He is known under the alias Apainterinahurry (a painter in a hurry) and Jakery Ferret.
Born in Plattsburgh NY, Cable is known for his abstract artwork that focuses on local areas in the Eastern Shore[2]. His work focuses on finding the unusual in the usual and going beyond the rule of thirds[3].
Military Career[edit]
At the age of 19, Michael entered the air force where he served for four years from 1984-1988.
Education[edit]
After serving in the air force, Cable earned an associates degree from Hudson Valley Community and later a bachelors degree from Salisbury University in exercise science. He took an interest in photography after taking it as an elective course to meet his degree requirements. Beyond this course, he is a self-taught photographer[4]
Photography[edit]
Mike began photography in 2007 with the purchase of his first digital camera, a canon EOS 30D. This lead to a string of successes with his first award in Popular Photography & Imaging magazine in April 2007, where he was first place in "Your Best Shot"[5]. Since then, he has been a keynote speaker and has received a multitude of awards for his images, including publications in National Geographic.
