Michael Thaddeus Dugeon (born January 20, 1982) is an American politician and candidate for the 2013 mayoral election in Detroit, Michigan. He entered the race as a write-in candidate.[1][2]

Early life

Dugeon was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and attended Cooley High School.

Career

Prior to running for mayor, Dugeon was employed at a barber shop in Detroit.

Dugeon entered the 2013 mayoral election on July 25, 2013 as a write-in candidate in order to disenfranchise voters who intend to write-in Mike Duggan, a leading candidate in the election for mayor. He has not formally announced a party affiliation, but has posted that he is a Democrat on his campaign page.

Dugeon registered to vote for the first time on July 12, 2012.[3]

Platform

In an interview with a local news station, Dugeon noted that his platform consists of "free Subway sandwiches, chips and pop for every citizen",[2] and that safety was his "number one priority".[3]

According to Dugeon, this page was created without his knowledge, and posted online at the same moment he was filing as a write-in candidate.[4] The Detroit News blasted Dugeon's move as a "dirty tricks" effort to suppress the legitimate votes of Detroit voters.[5]
