Michael Anthony Griffin II (born June 6, 1990), better known by his stage name Mike G, is an American rapper and DJ. He is best known as a member of the hip hop collective Odd Future and the newest member of OG Ron C's ChopNotSlop DJ group.[citation needed]

Music career[edit]

2009–10: Mike Check & Ali[edit]

In 2009, Mike G asked Tyler, The Creator if he can join his hip hop collective Odd Future. Tyler agreed and on October 9, 2009, Mike G released his debut mixtape, Mike Check.[citation needed]

On April 13, 2010, Mike G released his second mixtape, Ali. It contains features from Tyler, The Creator, Vince Staples, Earl Sweatshirt, Taco, and MellowHype, and production from Tyler, The Creator, Left Brain, and Syd tha Kyd.

On May 7, 2010, Odd Future released their second mixtape, Radical. Mike G contributed to tracks "Everything That's Yours", "Round and Round", "Cool", and "Swag Me Out".[citation needed]

2011–12: The Award Tour[edit]

On August 4, 2011 Mike G released a new song, "Chevron," which was produced by Hodgy Beats. The song later ended up on his debut EP, The Award Tour, released on November 25, 2011. It contains features from Vince Staples. Mike G made his TV debut in the ninth episode of the first season of Odd Future's show, Loiter Squad, as Mike G.S.I., a spoof of David Caruso's CSI: Miami character.

A new Mike G song called "Forest Green" was released on the Odd Future releases 12 Odd Future Songs, released on October 2011. It is produced by Left Brain. The song also appeared on The OF Tape Vol. 2, released on March 20, 2012. Mike G also contributed a verse on the track "Oldie" off The OF Tape Vol. 2.

2013–14: Verses[edit]

On April 11, 2013, Mike G released a compilation mixtape titled Verses. On April 13, 2013 OG Ron C announced Mike G as the newest member of The Chopstars [1]

2015–present: Award Tour II & Mike Check Vol II[edit]

On January 26, 2015, Mike G released his second EP, Award Tour II. It contains features from Larry Susan and production from Tyler, The Creator (credited as Ace, The Creator), Larry Fisherman, randomblackdude, and Left Brain, among others.

On April 20, 2015, Mike G released another compilation mixtape titled Verses II. On February 22, 2016, Mike G released his third mixtape titled Mike Check Vol II.
