Mikhail Vladimirovich Vishnevsky (Russian: Михаил Владимирович Вишневский; born 28 October 1973) is a Russian mycologist, Ph.D., author of popular science books about mushrooms, and ethnomycologist.
Biography
Vishnevsky was born on October 28, 1973. In 1990, he entered the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy at the Department of Genetics and Selection of Agricultural Plants at the Faculty of Agronomy. In 1992, he transferred to Moscow State University at the Department of Mycology and Algology. He graduated from the university in 1996.[1] He continued to work at the department. In 1999, he defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic "Tricholomatales of Moscow and the Moscow region".[2]
Mikhail became a specialist in the flora of mushrooms in Russia and the author of a number of popular books about mushrooms of general, culinary, and medical orientation, including "Handbook for the novice mushroom hunter",[3] "For Mushrooms from November to May", "Medicinal Fungi. Complete Encyclopedia",[4] "Poisonous fungi of Russia",[5] "Truffles and other gourmet mushrooms of Russia",[6] "His Majesty the Fly agaric",[7] "Mushroom preserves",[8] "Hallucinogenic mushrooms of Russia".[9]
He takes part in "mushroom" education: conducts thematic lectures and excursions on picking up and identification of mushrooms, participates in radio and television programs and in thematic groups on social networks, and runs a personal website.[10]
Vishnevsky is an author and organizer of the annual Mushroom Festival in the Pharmaceutical Garden.
