Mikko Louhivuori

Reverend Mikko Juhani Louhivuori (born 27. July 1952[1]) D.Th. Ph.D. is a Finnish Lutheran priest who has specialized on Near Eastern Archaeology. He has worked on computer supported archaeological databases for example Emmaus-Nicopolis and Yfitahel [2] pottery seriation f.ex. Jericho,[3] Virtual archaeology,[4] and data support for GIS applications mostly in Israel Antiquities Authority.

Mikko Louhivuori studied Theology in Helsinki University getting his M.A. in 1976. After that he was ordained priest in the Diocese of Kuopio. His Licentiate of Theology thesis in Helsinki, Finland 1982 examined the prehistory of Canaanite temples.[5] He studied early pottery development for Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem in 1988.[6] In 2010 he published a doctoral dissertation on Neolithic symbolism in Abo Akademi University, Turku, Finland.[7] He has written in Finnish and English books and articles concerning Biblical Archaeology,[8] hermeneutics, the physical landscapes of ancient Palestine and on Jewish, Christian and Muslem relations including studies of early Islamic period [9]
