Milen Minkov (born June 29, 1965) is an Austrian physician, researcher, and professor specialized in pediatric hematology and oncology. He is best known for his involvement and research in the field of Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis and pediatric blood cancer and served as the president of the Histiocyte Society from 2016-2019, where he remained on the steering committee after his presidential term. He is the current head of the department for pediatrics and neonatology at the medical clinic Floridsdorf in Vienna, Austria[1], the study chair and team leader for the St. Anna Children's Hospital LCH-Study Center[2], and a full professor for specialized pediatrics at the Sigmund Freud Private University[3].
Biography[edit]
Milen Lazarov Minkov was born in Dalbok Dol, Bulgaria on June 29th, 1965. He graduated from the high school Troyan with honors in 1983 and was called in to serve mandatory military service for the Bulgarian armed forces. In 1985, he began his medical studies at the Medical University Pleven, after which he moved to Moscow in 1986 on a scholarship, to finish his medical degree at RSMU (Russian State Medical University). Minkov graduated with honors (summa cum laude) in July of 1991 and proceeded to obtain his training as medical specialist in pediatrics. From 1995-1996 he worked a senior physician at the Research Institute for Pediatric Hematology in Moscow, after which he moved to Vienna, Austria for research purposes. From 1996-1997 he conducted research and received his nostrification from the Medical University of Vienna. Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck".
