General Information[edit]
Stage Whisper-Her is a new music discovery platform and live music events collective started in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The team is made up of three diverse and incredibly educated New York University students: Piper Page. ('23), Juliana Gomez ('23), and Juliette Drayton ('21). Why the name? Stage Whisper-Her is a female lead platform that aims to discover the "whispers" of the music industry. Although the ladies tun the show, they are not specifically focused on only highlighting female artists.
How it all started[edit]
The ladies of Stage Whisper-Her had no intention of creating a business mid-pandemic, but alas they were fated together in a group project of all things. Drayton and Page already being Music Business students were taking NYU's "Producing Live Music Events" as major requirements, while Gomez was looking into possible career interests. Professor Andie Aronow (who is also the founder of Women That Rock) randomly selected a group of girls that would soon become Stage Whisper-Her.
The premise of the course was to host a concert and through that learn all fo the aspects of musical event planning. Obviously, 2020 was not a perfect year for live music, so the entire class and all projects were to be online. Stage Whisper-Her decided to produce a holiday benefit concert where all ticket sales and merchandise sales would go towards the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. Page and Gomez had a link to this foundation through their involvement in NYU Greek Life. The show ended up raising over $1000 for the charity, was sponsored by Insomnia Cookies, and gartered over 200 views. The class ended, the ladies all earning As, yet the group wanted to continue to work together. They reached out to their Professor and she gave them the advice and guidance to continue on.
