Mimi Elsa Kurankyi (born October 26), better known by her stage name Mimi Elsa, is a Ghanaian soul and afrobeats singer, songwriter and a fashion stylist. She is a native of the Fante people in the Central Region of Ghana, West Africa.[1]

Early life & education[edit]

Mimi Elsa grew up in a town around the 37 Military Hospital. She first attended Association International School in Accra. She then gained admission into Krobo Girls Senior High School, where she discovered her musical talent. After high school, she pursued a degree in Social Work at the University of Ghana.[2][3]

Music career[edit]

Mimi Elsa rose to prominence after her debut, Before I Say Yes[4] which was released in mid 2017 became the theme song for the Single Sisters' Summit held in Ghana.[5][6] She went on later that year to release the video in September. She has since performed in some notable events like the International Youth Destiny Summit and the Single Sisters' Summit. Mimi Elsa admits influence over her music from artist like Efya, Becca, Adomaa and Cina Soul. Early in 2018, She released a second record, Love Who You Are (with Gyidi)[7][8] which made up to the charts in Ghana.[9][10][11]
