Mind Scanners is a simulation game, developed by The Outer Zone and published by Brave at Night. The game was released on the 20th of May, 2021 for Microsoft Windows and OS.

In Mind Scanners, the players acts as a new member of the Mind Scanners Program, in which they find patients reported with unusual behaviour, conduct a Mind Scan, decide if they are sane or not and if they are assessed as insane they are treated. The game is set in the fictional land of "The Structure", surrounded by the Outer Zones, populated with OutLanders. The currency within The Structure is Kapok (A secondary currency which can only be found in The Book of Lunacy is Pok/Small-Pok which is 1/1000th of a Kapok), which are used for paying fines, maintenance and purchasing new equipment and drugs. Maintenance is paid daily as a tax system for the structure, in return for paying maintenance the structure provides a Home, Healthcare, Education, Transportation and Coffee. The cost of maintenance per day varies depending on the difficulty selected at the start of the game (7 for Easy, 9 for Normal and 11 for Hard), however at the beginning of the game the players maintenance is reduced by 2 Kapok in response to their daughter being taken for research in the Zygnoka Institute. The only ways to earn money is by successful treating a patient deemed insane, which rewards 15 Kapok, deeming a patient sane after a mind scan, which rewards 3 Kapok, or a random event in which Kapok is found under the players car seat, which rewards 3 Kapok. Of course, if a patient has a serious problem after being declared sane, or if an insane patient is not treated correctly, the player will face Kapok fine. If Maintenance is unable to be paid, the player is sent to the Outer Zone resulting in a Game Over.

The Structure is lead by The Constructor, an old man whom is rarely seen by the public. The Constructor is the original creator and architect of the structure, they wrote the instruction (A book of laws written during the construction of the structure). The structure is opposed by a rebel group known as Moonrise. Seeing the regime as harsh and cares little about keeping personalities of patients, Moonrise seeks to overthrow the structure. The player can either remain loyal to the structure or help Moonrise achieve their goals, though there are endings that see mutual benefit to both parties.

A commonly quoted phrase used throughout the game and in the trailer is from the Instruction, the full version is as follows: "Follow the rules. Open your eyes. Fulfil your duty. The structure will rise. Technology will bow for all mankind. For normality and the mind.", most often used in closing statements this quote is shortened to "For normality and the mind!"

The structure itself is a reversed square pyramid, with many of the buildings being visited throughout the game to treat patients. The structure is separated into seven districts, The Gem, The Splendours, The Talents, The Deals, The Ventures, The Pumps and The Boots. A description of each district can be found in the Book of Lunacy under the tag "Districts". By opening the map without selecting a patient, a short description of the area the player is currently in will be provided.

Citizens are separated by levels of CitizenShip. You start the game at Level-1 Citizenship, once you reach 111 science Level-2 Citizenship is granted, which rewards Free Parking and Access to better vegetables. Level-3 Citizenship is the highest achievable, and rewards access to the Zygnoka institute. [1]
