The Minister of State for Competitiveness was an office of the United Kingdom Government, held by an elected Member of Parliament and appointed by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.[citation needed]
The position, created in July 2007, was part of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and was held by The Rt. Hon. Stephen Timms MP until 25 January 2008.[1] He was succeeded by Shriti Vadera, Baroness Vadera (25 January 2008-9 June 2009).[2] On 9 June 2009 the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform was merged with the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills.[3]
