Minnie Stowe Puett
Minnie Stowe Puett was a woman's rights activist and pioneer female historian of Gaston County, North Carolina.
Minnie Stowe Puett was raised in Gaston County, NC. Her father owned large amounts of land in the area. In 1907 she married William Puett, a wealthy businessman and the first Mayor of Belmont.[1]
Puett was one of the organizers of the Belmont Women's Club, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the League of Woman Voters and was active in the woman's suffrage movement.
In 1939 Puett wrote The History of Gaston County, which marked one of the first histories of the area ever written.[2]
