The Miss Cultural Nigeria beauty pageant is an annual event that showcases the cultural ethics of the Nigerian people. MCN, which is the acronym for the Miss Cultural Nigeria pageant, focuses on promoting the culture of Nigeria through various platforms which include promoting of the Nigerian languages, Nigerian clothing, as well as Nigerian food. These are all embedded in the pageant as contestants are exposed to various cultural activities such as showcasing traditional and cultural attires of various cultures, Nigerian-made wears as well as cultural cooking competitions which are all exciting platforms for cultural ethics. The current title holder is Queen Tombara Luciana Owei-Sweet, held by a final year student of Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.

The Miss Cultural Nigeria beauty pageant started in 2013 as a photo contest organized by Silverdowed Entertainment. It involved girls from various parts of Nigeria sending pictures of themselves in traditional attires to the organizers and these pictures were uploaded on Facebook as a contest. This formed the basis of the first edition of the MCN pageant. The second edition was held in 2014 at Casa DE Pedro Hotels, Refinery Road, Warri, Delta State. The pageant, which turned out successful, was graced with the likes of the General Manager, Rufus Intl, Nig and the CEO of Debanj Global Services. This contest was won by Gold Kakeyere, a then student of Delta State University, Abraka.

The pageant had a slight delay of events in 2015, therefore stopping the event from kicking off until October 2016 when the third edition was held. The third edition was held at Ibari Ogwa Entertainment World, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. At this point, Silverdowed Entertainment worked hand in hand with Black n' Proud nation, a UK based organization which promotes African culture. The third edition of MCN produced eight beauty queens which included ambassadors for Black N Proud nation as well. At the second edition, after interesting activities and a hectic five days camping culled with various events, Luciana Tombara Owei-Sweet, a student of Niger Delta University, emerged winner of the contest. Alongside were the likes of Rachael Unutame, the Miss Cultural Nigeria grand model, Titi Akinpelu, the face of MCN 2016, Udeze Kourtcy, Runner up, MCN 2016, Esther Aaron-Kune, 2nd Runner Up MCN 2016, Iheanetu Christabel, Face of Silverdowed Entertainment, Deinduomo Jacklyn, Face of Black n Proud nation, William Onome, MCN Delta, Mmirikwe Prudence, MCN IMO.

The fourth edition was held on 17 December 2017 at Titanic View Hotels, Owerri, Imo State. The edition of this pageant produced five beauty queens and whom are Queen Miracle Nwaele, a student of Imo State University who emerged as the Miss Cultural Nigeria Queen, Queen Chukwuocha Tobechi, 1st Runner up (Miss Cultural Nigeria Tourism), Queen Elma Ezichi, 2nd Runner up (Miss Cultural Nigeria Heritage), Queen Christopher Onyinyechi, 3rd Runner up (Miss Cultural Imo) and Queen Francisca Anums, 4th Runner up (Miss Cultural Delta).

The fifth edition was held at Bangkok Palace, Owerri, Imo State on 31 August 2019, with the theme "Rooted and Cultured". The fifth edition produced five beauty queens who had the sole tasks of promoting and improving tourism in Nigeria. The crowned queens were Queen Innocent Precious Udochi (MCN Queen 2019), Queen Chineze Judith (MCN Queen Tourism), Queen Ehirim Janet (MCN Queen Heritage), Queen Chesa Mirabel (MCN,South East) and Queen Horgan Jessica (MCN,Imo).[citation needed]

Contest[edit]

Contestants are required to be single, above a specific age depending on the annual criteria and be able to speak at least one Nigerian language. Miss Cultural Nigeria involves the showcasing of a culturally designed casual wear, a cultural attire, traditional attire as well as an evening gown. Prizes for winners in the past included an official car, cash prizes, consolation prizes and a modeling contract with Silver Models Management.

Difference between Miss Cultural Nigeria pageant and Miss Culture Nigeria pageant[edit]

The Miss Cultural Nigeria beauty pageant is being organized though under the supervision of the Nigeria constitutional activities but by Silverdowed Entertainment to promote cultural values and ethics of the Nigerian people through various interesting platforms, however, Miss Culture Nigeria is being not a property of the above said organization. The Miss Cultural Nigeria beauty pageant is still being organized by Silverdowed Entertainment though partnership with other cultural lovers are always welcome within the body and should not be mistaken for the previous. However, the aims and objectives are likely to be similar.[citation needed]
