On 16 November 2024, at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant, Raúl Rocha Cantú, the owner of Legacy Holding Group USA Inc., announced that the 74th edition of the Miss Universe pageant would be held in one of these shortlisted countries; Argentina, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, India, Morocco, South Africa, Spain and Thailand .
