Abdallah Musa Makongoro (known by the stage name Moe Dalz ; born in Dodoma (city), 28 June 1999)[1] is a singer-songwriter, music producer and author from Tanzania. He is recognized for his ability to mix Kiswahili and English in his songs, something that attracts many people living outside of Tanzania, because English is one of the biggest and most spoken languages in all over the world.
Early life
Moe Dalz was born to Sylvia John, and Musa Makongoro who is a teacher and businessperson. The name Moe Dalz is an abbreviation of the name of his father Musa, (whose abbreviation is Moe) and his real name Abdallah.
He started performing at a very young age, starting from primary school when he was studying until high school. He completed his primary education at Kimanga primary school, later joined Kikuyu secondary school and was selected at Pugu secondary school for the 5th and 6th forms. After that he joined Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Music
His musical life started in high school where he started singing covers of popular songs for his friends, and continued singing for his high school friends who pushed him to record his first song called Hoi in 2020. Later in the same year 2020 while studying at Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology, (DIT) and after knowing exactly what talent he had, he managed to record another song called "Closer".[2] This song was made by his friend named Louis Richard Kombole (Luiz/Louis on the beat) and mixed & mastered by Cloud beats[3] who is a music producer from Tanzania who worked under the recording company The industry label record under Navykenzo. The song Closer is his first song to be played many times in big radio stations like Clouds FM and Wasafi FM.
In January 2022, Moe Dalz released his first album (Extended play record), which is called "Moe Dalz Unlocked"[4][5], because he believed that it was the right time to release his talent to the ears of music lovers. This opened up opportunities for him because he began to be recognized by people who work in the entertainment industry. But due to the occasional challenges he encountered like other artists, he decided to start learning music production, and succeeded in preparing, writing and singing a song called "Allow Me".
Writing books
Moe Dalz didn't end only in music, but also in 2022 he wrote two books. The first book written is "Bring back my Theresa"[6] (Fiction) followed by "The art of being You"[7] (Educational book) which was aimed at helping young people. His books got him written on some Ghanaian websites [8][9], to explain how a young man can work two jobs together without affecting his daily life.
Currently, Moe Dalz is determined to write more books about entrepreneurship, business and music, books that will help especially African communities.
