Dr. Mohankrishnan Menon (born 27 March 1969) is an Indian medical oncologist based in Mumbai, India, known for his dual board certification in medical oncology and palliative medicine from the United States. He has over 22 years of clinical experience across India and the U.S. and is currently serving as a consultant medical oncologist at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital, Mumbai. He previously worked as a consultant physician at Hartford Hospital, Connecticut, and as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Menon is the founder of Panha Lifecare, a home-based palliative care initiative, and co-founder of Rezilient Cancer Care and LivMax. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the European Society for Medical Oncology. He has received multiple honors, including the American Medical Association Physician Recognition Awards,[1] and was listed among Outlook India[2]'s Best Doctors Mumbai in 2022.
Early life and education
Menon was born in 1969 in India. He earned his MBBS degree in 1992 and his MD in Internal Medicine in 1995 from Grant Medical College, Bombay University. From 1995 to 1998, he completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He then pursued a fellowship in medical oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, New York, from 1998 to 2001. Menon is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in medical oncology, internal medicine, and hospice and palliative care. He received a MBA in healthcare from Alvernia University in Pennsylvania in 2008.
Career
From 2001 to 2018, Mohankrishnan Menon worked in the United States as a consultant medical oncologist at Hartford Hospital, Connecticut, and served as clinical assistant professor of Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He was a key faculty member at the Gray Cancer Center and contributed to outpatient chemotherapy care through his role as Director of Infusion Centers at Starling Physicians. During his tenure, he also served on multiple hospital committees including the Multidisciplinary Thoracic and Head & Neck Cancer Committees and the Scientific Advisory Committee.
Menon returned to India in 2017 and has since been practicing as a Consultant Medical Oncologist at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. He also holds honorary consultant positions at Lilavati Hospital and Breach Candy Hospital. He continues to be a visiting faculty at Hartford Healthcare Cancer Center in the U.S.
In 2025, Menon shared his perspectives on the potential and limitations of mRNA vaccines in cancer treatment, contributing to broader public discussion on emerging oncology innovations.[3]
Since March 2017, he has continued his affiliation with Hartford Healthcare Cancer Center[4] as a Visiting Consultant. Prior to returning to India, Menon was a founding member of the board of directors of Starling Physicians,[5] Connecticut's largest private multispecialty practice group. From 2016 to 2017, he served as medical director of infusion centers[6] at Starling Physicians, overseeing one of the largest outpatient chemotherapy programs in Connecticut.
Entrepreneurship and Initiatives
Menon is the Founder and director of Panha Lifecare,[7] a palliative care initiative providing home-based oncology support services in India. He is also the Co-founder of Rezilient Cancer Care,[8] an organization offering modern cancer treatment access, and LivMax, a digital platform focused on patient education in oncology.
In 2025, Menon established the Dr. Mohan Menon Cancer Center in Mumbai, a facility focused on offering comprehensive oncology services in a supportive, patient-centered environment. The center integrates natural elements like open spaces and sunlight to create a healing atmosphere and provides multidisciplinary care for individuals undergoing cancer treatment.

Scientific Publications
Menon has published multiple articles and case reports in national and international medical journals. His research spans topics including antifungal prophylaxis in immunocompromised patients, rare cancer presentations, gastrointestinal oncology, and advanced drug delivery techniques in chemotherapy.
- In 2001, Menon co-authored a study on antifungal prophylaxis in allogeneic bone marrow transplant patients, presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting, examining the prevention of Aspergillus or mold infections in immunosuppressed populations.[14] He was also the lead author on a 2014 case report published in Connecticut Medicine, documenting an unusual instance of isolated brain metastasis in a patient with cholangiocarcinoma.[15]
- In 2011, Menon contributed to a case report on ruptured adenosquamous carcinoma of the gallbladder, which appeared in Gastrointestinal Cancer Research,[16] exploring clinical and surgical outcomes in rare hepatobiliary tumors.[17]
- His earlier work includes a 2000 review article titled "Stealth Liposomes: Delivering Chemotherapy Undercover," published in Cancer Therapeutics Update, where he discussed emerging liposomal drug delivery technologies for enhanced targeting of chemotherapeutic agents.[18]
- Menon has also contributed to clinical gastroenterology research, co-authoring a study on tropical pancreatitis in western India published in Diabetologia (1997), as well as studies on benign prostatic hypertrophy and Helicobacter pylori infections published in Indian Practitioner.[19][20][21] In 1997, he published an article on NSAID-induced gastropathy in Medical Pulse, evaluating gastrointestinal toxicity in chronic NSAID users.[22]
- Earlier in his career, Menon presented a clinical profile of cerebral malaria at the Annual Research Society Meeting of Grant Medical College (1993) and published an article on diabetes management during travel in Diabetes Today.[23][24]
