Mojave Sky (band)
Mojave Sky is an experimental post-rock project created in 2017, Greece. The original idea was created by Lazaros in Ioannina, where he started as a one man band. Later on, George and Foivos, Petros and Panos formed the today's lineup of the project. Despite their not so strict professional approach on the music industry they have performed so far in quite a few places joining major headliners while having published their own material. In 2019, they published their first ever album entitled "Karma". Their work is mostly DIY while the productions are happening in their home studio and houses. However in "Karma", the raw drum recordings took place in "Noisyland Recordings", Greece.
History[edit]
On January of 2017, Lazaros-Antonios Chatzilazarou formed the project, aiming in publishing his own musical material by himself. No more being restricted by the term "band", he created an idea, with a scope of collaborating with different musicians and friends without any physical constraints. One month later he published his first ever EP entitled Resistance, recording mixing and overall producing every part by himself. On April of 2017, his close friend George Bouras joined the project at first to collaborate in the production of their next work but eventually became a loyal member of the idea and worked hard on building the name of Mojave Sky in the local scene. On the night of 15 of May, after having composed 2 of the 4 songs for the upcoming EP, George called his friends Foivos Megas and Alexandros Gounaris challenging them to listen to the prototypes of the songs and in 2 hours being ready and meet Mojave Sky in the studio for the first ever rehearsal. At midnight, Foivos (bass), Alexandros (drums), George (guitar) and Lazaros (guitar) performed for the very first time 2 of the songs that would be included on the summer-coming EP. On the 24th of August the second EP and first collective work Elements went live. Later on, this would be the album that would put Mojave Sky on the national scene map. On September of 2017, Alexandors Gounaris joined the army and left Ioannina permanently leaving Mojave Sky drummer-less. However, a few days later Panos Missas joined the band's third rehearsal and immediately made an impression; he would be one of the band's cornerstones the next years. On the 24th of September the first live show would be a reality but that wasn't the best thing that happened that month. One week before the live show, Lazaros called an online contact of him Petros Prappas (Keybords/Synth) with a proposal of joining the band. Petros, was intrigued by the genre and style after having listened to Resistance so he rehearsed with the band and in one week they all performed as Mojave Sky in their first live show.
Live Performances[edit]
On September of 2017, Mojave Sky opened the stage for the American band "The Discussion" featuring Laura Pleasants of "Kylesa". They started performing with an improvisation jam before their actual program and that eas the moment they decided to try and create atmospheres with their unique (as mentioned afterwards) skill in creating soundscapes. A few weeks later they went live on a regional TV channel talking about their work and how they started along with unveiling heir future plans.
On November of 2017, they were invited to perform live once again opening the stage for the UK band "Midas Fall" and the Canadian "Raised by Swans". One month later they performed live on the student dormitories of the university of Ioannina along with other bands such as "Afrosugar".
On March of 2018 they traveled all the way to Volos city, Greece to perform live in a non-profit festival hosted from the University of Thessaly. The same month after a few weeks they performed live opening the show for a great headliner "Naxatras". Since September they had started setting up their next album and the next show came 7 months later when they played live in the mental health day festival supporting the local team who organized the event. This time they were the headline name and for them the stage opened their close friends "Felony Case".
On December 2018, they performed live along the legends "Nightstalker" and 1 month later joined the stage with the promising upcoming Greek stoner band "Puta Volcano".
On May 2019 they joined forces with their close friends "Halocraft" and followed a 2-day live performance on Trikala and Ioannina.

As Mojave Sky state, the members that are involved in this project are more than a normal band would have and thus most of them remain anonymous. Yet, the members that perform live and remain active on the recordings are:
