The Monash Coal Mine is a proposed coal mine located in New South Wales owned by Yancoal Australia, a subsidiary of Yanzhou Coal Mining Company.[1][2]
The mine has coal reserves amounting to 604.8 million tonnes of coking coal, one of the largest coal reserves in the world. The mine has an annual production capacity of 9 million tonnes of coal.[3]
Wine producers located near the proposed mine have opposed a renewal of exploration permits because of the potential threat to their vineyards.[4]
