Monomyth is a Dutch rock band from The Hague which was formed in 2011.
The band was founded by Selwyn Slop (musician with, amongst others, Incense, Lucid and Polar Exploration Ship) and Sander Evers (musician with "35007" and "Gomer Pyle"). Along with Selwyn Slop (bass) and Sander Evers (drums) the band consists of Peter van der Meer (keyboards, guitar), Tjerk Stoop (digital instruments, guitar) and Thomas van den Reydt (guitars).
The band plays a mixture of genres like space rock, stoner rock, and krautrock. A first public performance took place on March 24, 2012, in 013 (Tilburg, The Netherlands), supporting The Machine. After this, the band played festivals at home as well as abroad, such as Yellowstock Winterfest in Belgium and Monsters Of Närmberch in Germany. In September 2013 the first, untitled, album appeared on Burning World Records. Later the band made the transition to Suburban Records, on which in September 2014 the second album, Further, was released. With Further the band spent a short time on the Dutch Album Top 100 (highest position: 48) and also several weeks on the Dutch Vinyl Top 50 (highest position: 10).
