Mononesh Das (born 23 March 1975) [1] (translated from Manonesh Das) is a prominent and respected Bangladeshi journalist from the Mymensingh region. He has been involved in journalism since the era of letterpress and is known as a talented personality of Mofaswal Journalism.
Early life
He was born on 23 March 1975 in Mujati village of Muktagachha upazila. He lives with his family at Ishwargram, Main Road, Muktagacha town. His mother, Meera Das, wife, Sampa Roy Das, daughter, Supriya Das, and son, Pravas Das. His father, late Bhavesh Chandra Das, was a prominent businessman and belonged to a martyr family in the liberation war of 1971.
Career
Mononesh Das started journalism in 1992 while a student of Government Shahid Smriti College and later worked for Dainik Jahan. He has worked in many media outlets including Daily Ittefaq[2], Dhaka Times Twenty-Four.com, BD News Blog (Citizen Journalism)[3], Odhikar News, BD24Live, 24Ghanta News. His writings and pictures have been published in Dainik Yugantar, Dainik Aram Kanth, Dainik Bhorer Kagaz, JagoNews24, Sangbad.net, Dainik Dinkal, Dainik Inqilab and many other newspapers.
Mononesh Das is also known as 'Charan Journalist'[4]. He is known for portraying the people of Mofaswal. He acts as a voice for the poor and oppressed people. On May 28, 2017, a report written by him in Dhaka Times 24.com titled 'āĻšāϤāĻāĻžāĻāĻž āϏā§āĻ āĻŽāĻžāϝāĻŧā§āϰ āĻāĻļā§āϰāϝāĻŧ āĻā§āϝāĻŧāĻžāϞāĻāϰ' drew the attention of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. As a result of this report, within a week (June 4th) the cowshed mother received the Prime Minister's help. This incident is indicative of Mononesh Das's investigative journalism prowess.
