Morality, Initiative and Patriotism (MIP) is a political party in Bulgaria led by Simeon Slavchev.[1]

History[edit]

The party was founded on November 10, 2018, by a committee consisting of public figures, cultural figures, the youth, scientists, intellectuals, professors, and Bulgarians abroad. The party claims its ideology is "freedom and justice".

The party first participated in the 2019 Bulgarian local elections, winning the mayoral election in Botevgrad and electing city councilors in Botevgrad, Blagoevgrad, Mirkovo, Primorsko, Sozopol, Nessebar, Stamboliyski, Slivnitsa, Razgrad, Cherven Bryag, Vetovo, Bratya Daskalovi, Chirpan, Kyustendil, Silistra, and Radnevo.[2]

In February of 2020, the party staged a protest in front of the Council of Ministers building, calling for free and fair elections, and the adoption of voting machines instead of hand cast paper ballots. The party also participated in the 2020–2021 Bulgarian protests and supported the election of Rumen Radev.

Manifesto[edit]

On January 15, 2020, the party published its manifesto calling for a rejection of political divisions in order to take concrete steps to return to normality and guarantee change in Bulgaria.[3]
