Morgan Dameron is an American film director and writer. Her feature film debut was in 2017 with Different Flowers.[1][2]

Personal life[edit]

Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri,[3] Dameron attended Pembroke Hill School.[4] She graduated summa cum laude from USC School of Cinematic Arts. Dameron has participated in Ryan Murphy's HALF initiative[5] and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Career[edit]

Dameron has worked in various areas of the film industry including directing, producing, writing, and acting. She acted as director J.J. Abrams's assistant and worked in this capacity on Westworld, Star Trek: Beyond, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Abrams named Poe Dameron of Star Wars: The Force Awakens after her.[6]

Dameron has directed, written, and produced award-winning short films and television episodes that have been screened at film festivals internationally.[7] Her work in branded content has gained over ten million views online.[7] She's the recipient of the Kansas City Women in Film and Television's "Spirit of Kansas City" award.[7]

Different Flowers[edit]

Written, directed, and produced by Dameron, Different Flowers stars Shelley Long[8] and debuted at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.[9] Different Flowers was also chosen for the opening night of the San Diego International Women's Film Festival. The film was awarded "Best Heartland Feature Film" in the Kansas City Film Festival.[10][7]

According to a reviewer, the film gives "A fresh look at the dynamic relationship between two sisters with strong, appealing performances".[11][10] Another noted that "several scenes have a warm, rosy tinge to them, even during the sisters' meanest blowups, as if to assure the audience that, for these two, there will always be a reconciliation.[12]
