Morifade was a power metal band formed in 1992 in Linköping, Sweden.[1] [unreliable source?]

Biography

The band was first formed under the name Gothic by Jesper Johansson (lead vocals and guitar), Fredrik Johansson (guitar) and Kim Arnell (drums). Soon after, they were joined by Henrik Weimedal (bass). In late 1996, Christian Stinga-Borg joined the band as new vocalist and Jesper Johansson became a full-time guitarist.

After a local gig, Morifade (as they now called themselves) was signed to the newly started label Loud N' Proud Records. The EP Across The Starlit Sky was released in early 1998.

Shortly after EP was released, vocalist Stinga-Borg had to be replaced due to the bad chemistry between him and the rest of the band.[citation needed] But they quickly found a replacement in Stefan Petersson. During the writing process of the band's first album, Fredrik Johansson also had to leave the band due to personal issues.[citation needed]

The first full-length album, Possession Of Power, was recorded and released in 1999.

Some months after the release, two new members joined the band: keyboardist Fredrik Frippe Eriksson (ex- Tad Morose) and guitarist Adrian Kanebäck. With this line-up, Morifade began to perform more live shows, both in Sweden and the rest of Europe.

In 2000, the band entered the Los Angered Recording Studio (owned by Andy LaRocque from King Diamond) to record some songs for the EP Cast A Spell, as well as "Judas", a cover song for The Keepers Of Jericho Part I, a tribute to Helloween.

In addition to writing new material for their second full-length album, Morifade was searching for a new record label. The band decided to sign with Hammerheart Records (now known as Karmageddon). During this time, Kanebäck left the band. Arnell's younger brother Robin was asked to play guitar.

In 2001, the recording of the second full-length album Imaginarium started. It was released in April 2002.

The recording of the new album Domi<>Nation took place from January to April 2003, was released in early 2004.

In 2004, Petersson left Morifade, and was replaced by Kristian Wallin. Jesper Johansson also decided to quit the band. He was replaced by former Pain and Hypocrisy guitarist Mathias Kamijo. This line-up will release the album Empire of Souls in 2011.
