Moses West
Moses West is an American engineer who invented an Atmospheric Water Generation machine (AWG), using condensation in the air to generate clean, usable water.[1][2]

Career
After serving in the United States Army, West focused on addressing global water scarcity.[2]
In 2015, he founded the Atmospheric Water Generation Company and later established the Moses West Foundation to bring this technology to communities in need, particularly in disaster-struck and marginalized areas (Moses West Foundation, n.d.).[1]
West’s AWG units are capable of producing hundreds to thousands of gallons of water per day, depending on the size and environmental conditions.[3] These machines filter and purify the water through a multi-stage process, ensuring it's safe for consumption.[4] His units have been deployed in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, in Flint, Michigan, during the water crisis, and in several Texas cities during infrastructure breakdowns.[5] Despite his success, West has faced significant challenges.[6] In 2019, one of his water machines in Flint was reportedly vandalized, raising suspicions about whether it was a random act or something more targeted.[7] West has continued to push forward, advocating for self-reliant, off-grid water solutions and working with municipalities, schools, and local organizations. He often speaks about the intersection of climate change, water security, and systemic inequality.[8] According to West, “Water is a human right, and we have the technology to ensure that no one goes without it.”[5] With water scarcity projected to affect over 1.8 billion people by 2025, solutions like West's AWGs could become essential infrastructure in the near future.[9]
