Moshtaq Ahmed (মোস্তাক আহমেদ) is a Bangladeshi technology entrepreneur, Founder and CEO of Nybsys, operating in multiple countries across Asia, Africa, Australia, and North America. He is known for his work in enterprise architecture, large-scale IT systems, e-government projects, financial technology (FinTech), and Internet of Things (IoT) innovations.[1]
Early life and Education
Moshtaq Ahmed was born on 17 November 1978 in Narsingdi, Bangladesh. His father, Mohammed Abdur Rahim, was a deputy assistant engineer in the Local Government Engineering Department. Ahmed completed his higher secondary education at Dhaka College in the science stream. In 1996, he enrolled at Jahangirnagar University for a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and later completed an Master of Business Administration.[1] Inspired by technology from an early age, he persuaded his father to buy him a computer, which he used to develop educational software and digital animations based on Bengali literature and comics. He later earned a Master of Liberal Arts (ALM) in Information Technology from Harvard University.[1]
Career
Early career
Ahmed began developing software during his university years, creating applications for accounting, educational animation, and IT projects. In 2000, he contributed to Bangladesh’s first electronic birth registration system with UNICEF and established vital statistics and government accounting systems with UK government support. In 2002, he received the Best IT Award from the University of Manchester for his work on birth registration.[2]
Work in Africa
In 2006, Ahmed moved to Swaziland (now Eswatini) to work on government IT projects, including home loan distribution systems. Unable to receive payments personally, he founded his first company, Datanet, in Swaziland. He expanded into FinTech, providing digital solutions for credit assessment, loan repayment, and transaction processing, generating annual transactions worth around US$65 million. His work improved tax collection, healthcare management, and agricultural IT systems across multiple African nations.[2]
Nybsys
In 2010, Moshtaq Ahmed established Nybsys in South Africa and Bangladesh, focusing on research and development, hardware-software integration, IoT, AI/ML-enabled solutions, Edge AI-powered networking, and smart city technologies. The company provides private 4G/5G networks, enterprise IT solutions, and digital infrastructure services for governments and businesses. Nybsys expanded its operations to Bangladesh, Eswatini, Lesotho, South Africa, Singapore, and the United States, collaborating with international technology partners to implement scalable, cutting-edge solutions. The company emphasizes innovation in digital transformation, connectivity, and cloud-based systems, enabling governments and enterprises to optimize operations and services efficiently.
