MotherFund LLC is a family-operated, Texas-based commercial finance company providing working capital solutions and merchant services to small businesses in the United States. Founded in 2007, MotherFund headquarters is located in Rockwall, Texas.

History

At 25 years old, Jason Bishop moved his family to Dallas, Texas to start work in a sales position for RewardsNetwork. Bishop moved on to working for AdvanceMe and then commuting to Strategic Funding Source, now known as Kapitus, in New York City as one of the founding members for two years before starting MotherFund in Rockwall, Texas.[1][2] The company name MotherFund originated as a way to stand out to potential merchants as a source of financing, instead of the other capital providers whose names were typically bland.[3] MotherFund's founding mission was to improve the existing operations of businesses via capital injection after the financial crisis of 2007–08 where traditional banks were not extending credit to small and medium-sized enterprises.[4][5] As the company grew, MotherFund became more specialized in providing the customized growth capital necessary for small business owners to add value to their companies, whether it be for additional facilities, marketing budgets, or liquidity for a future SBA loan.[6]

With the introduction of the automated clearing house financing programs in the commercial finance space, new companies flooded the market because finance companies could now use cash flow as collateral from all aspects of the business receiving funding, instead of the singular focus on credit card receivables.[7]

In 2018, MotherFund had provided over $100M in funding to small businesses.
