Mother of Learning is a fantasy web novel written by Croatian author Domagoj Kurmaić under the pseudonym nobody103.[1] Originally serialized on FictionPress and Royal Road from 2011 to 2020, it is a prominent work of Rationalist fiction and Progression fantasy.
Synopsis
Zorian Kazinski is a teenage mage attending the Cyoria magical academy. When the academy is attacked by an invading force, Zorian is killed but wakes up at the beginning of the month. Trapped in a month-long time loop, he must master advanced magic and uncover the conspiracy behind the invasion to find a way to escape.
Publication history
The novel was the top-rated completed work on Royal Road before being edited and published as a series of four e-books and audiobooks via Wraithmarked Creative.[2] The audiobook adaptations are narrated by Jack Voraces.[3]
Reception
The series has been praised for its intricate plotting and "satisfying" progression.[4] Reviewers on r/Fantasy noted that while the prose in early chapters could be stiff—due to the author writing in his second language—the character development and world-building remain highly engaging.[5]
