Motional is an American autonomous vehicle company founded in March 2020 [1] as a joint venture between automaker Hyundai and auto supplier Aptiv. Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, Motional also maintains locations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Singapore. Motional began testing its newest generation of vehicles in Las Vegas, Nevada in February of 2021[2][3].
History
Motional began as two autonomous driving companies: Boston-based NuTonomy and Pittsburgh-based Ottomatika. Ottomatika was purchased[4] by automotive supplier Aptiv in 2015, and NuTonomy was purchased[5] by Aptiv in 2017.
