Mourners

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Biography

Mourners is an American alternative indie rock band from Los Angeles, California. The band released their first single, American Sign Language, on Bandcamp, in December 2017. Founded by Jarrod Gorbel, former frontman and guitarist for The Honorary Title, Mourners was formed in early 2017 when Jarrod reconnected with old friend and drummer, Will Noon (Will played in bands Straylight Run and Breaking Pangaea)[1]. Jarrod and Will quickly began recording and releasing singles steadily from 2017 through 2020, with no official EP or album release announced.

Mourners first public appearance coincided with their launch on Twitter in July 2017[2]. Mourners' music is more rock oriented than Gorbel's previous bands, which leaned more into the indie and emo sub-genres. Subject matter covered by Mourners is more socio-political than Gorbel's previous writing as well, ranging from topics on the wealth gap, healthcare, and the Trump presidency[3].
