Rolf Eskil Johansson (born 1 July 1925), known by the nickname "Tumba-Tarzan", was a Swedish burglar who became nationally known in 1954 when he was on the run from the police for more than six months.
Early life
Johansson was born on 1 July 1925 in Botkyrka, the son of Eskil and Amanda Johansson. He had two younger siblings, named Sune and Olle. The family settled in the cottage Entorp, owned by the municipal poor care, located south of Tumba. Johansson grew up in poor circumstances and due to his parents’ declining health, his younger brothers were placed in an orphanage in Norrtälje where they stayed for five years.
